A Glimpse Into India's New Parliament Building
The new Parliament building was inaugurated on May 28, 2023, by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The triangular-shaped four-storey building has a built-up area of 64,500 sqm. It has three main gates -- Gyan Dwar, Shakti Dwar, and Karma Dwar.
The inauguration began with an early morning havan and a multi-religion prayer followed by a formal opening in the Lok Sabha by Modi.
Modi said the new Parliament building will make every Indian proud.
As many as 25 parties attended the inauguration of the new Parliament building, even as 20 opposition parties decided to boycott the event.
The ceremonial sceptre Sengol was handed over to Modi by the high priests of the Shaivite order.
