PM Modi Celebrates Bihu In Guwahati

Narendra Modi attended the Mega Bihu programme at Sarusajai Stadium in Guwahati.

Rongali Bihu, which ushers in the spring season, is celebrated with a performance of Bihu dance.

Rongali Bihu is celebrated to mark the Assamese New Year. 

PM Modi recited a few lines from the song 'Biswa Bijoy Naujawan' at the Mega Bihu programme.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma also attended the programme. 

PM Modi witnessed the Bihu dance performed by more than 11,000 performers.

The dancers move quickly with their hands, take fast steps,and swing their hipsrhythmically while donningtraditional Assamese attire andgorgeous accessories.

The music is played on traditional instruments like the dhol, xutuli, toka, baanhi and gogona.

Earlier, PM Modi dedicated to the nation the northeast’s first AIIMS in Guwahati.
